This festival takes place twice a year: 
on the 4th Sunday of May and on the 2nd Sunday of August.
This is a beautiful village festival with shows of flagflyers and archer men.
It' s a competition with crossbows: there are 24 bowlers, 8 from each districts of Massa Marittima.  The village is divided in three districts, named TERZIERI.
The festival begins with a parade: about 100 inhabitants, all dressed in medieval clothes, walk along the streets of the historical centre to the main square where the competition takes place.
At the beginning there is the exibition of the Flagflayers Company of Massa Marittima, then there is the competition with the crossbows.
The bowlers must hit the target 36 meters away.  The winner is the archer man whose arrow hits the target nearest the center.
His Terziere receive the large painted silk banner.
