Farmhouse
The ideal way to discover and experience Tuscany is carefully defined
and protected by regional laws. Farm holidays, although not exactly of
Tuscan origin, are one of the most popular ways of discovering the
region. Many people see it as the ideal kind of holiday and the best
way to experience and enjoy the Tuscan territory. Farm holiday
establishments, or agriturismi, have been around for a long time so
they are no longer a novelty although they still present some
innovative features and are set to keep evolving in the future.
But
what is a farm holiday exactly?
This is how Tuscan law no. 30/2003
defines it: “Farm holiday businesses are those establishments where the
welcoming and accommodating of paying guests, by single or associated
farmers, is carried out in connection with and as a complement to the
farming business, which shall however always remain the main interest”.
There are therefore two fundamental aspects: welcoming guests and
farming, the farm’s principle activity.
Tuscany was one of the
first regions to define farm holidays with a set of constantly updated
regulations. Tuscany is certainly at the forefront where regulations of
all aspects of farm holiday enterprises are concerned, from regulatory
issues (classification, health and hygiene, the working hours to be
dedicated to farm holiday activities compared with the time dedicated
to the farming activity), to those aimed at identifying a series of
collateral activities. These strong points are explained particularly
well in the regulations for the implementation of law no. 30/2003,
which identifies a number of additional elements farm holiday
establishments can use to develop their business. These elements are

Tuscan contryside
There is a unique place where you do not need
words to make yourself understood, or comparisons to feel that you are
well, or strong sensations in order to feel emotional. It is the Tuscan
countryside and you are its guest. And so, discover a holiday that
immediately feels familiar: the agritourism. A walk up to that old
village, a trip on horseback, a moment of astonishment inside a parish
church, a lunch rich with typical products. The Tuscan countryside is a
natural environment where the centuries-old presence of man has
modelled the profiles of the hills. The farmhouses, the medieval
villages, the rows of vines, the olive groves, the cypresses: with a
Tuscan farmhouse you can enjoy a green, healthy, relaxing and real
holiday.

bed and breakfast
A b&b
is a small lodging establishment that offers overnight accommodation
and breakfast, but usually does not offer other meals. Typically, bed
and breakfasts are private homes with fewer than 10 bedrooms.
Tuscany is the land of hospitality. Here, tourists,
travellers and visitors are treated to an embarrassment of riches. They
can travel, visit and stay overnight with the certainty of having a
unique experience. The region boasts beaches, mountains,
spas, artistic centres and countryside—but also cultural tours and food
and wine itineraries. Rich and varied
propositions—between art, culture, nature, spas and landscapes—an
exclusive holiday in an area just waiting to be discovered.
Enjoy your stay as much
as possible in one of Italy's most beautiful locations, thanks to the
comfort and convenience of bed & breakfast: a stay in a
B&B lets you appreciate not just the beautiful scenery of the area,
but also get to know the traditions and secrets of the place, thanks to
the hospitality and willingness to please of the local people.
Have a great holiday in Tuscany, Italy.
What does Tuscany offer?
Nature
Soft
hills, the chromatic play of the fields, farmhouses and cypresses. But
not only that. Tuscany is also surprising with her snowy summits, ponds
and lagoons; the Mediterranean scrubland that pushes down to graze the
sea; the woodland; the countryside marked by the thousands-year-old
work of man. Without forgetting the parks and natural reserves: the
Tuscan archipelago, the Casentino forests, the Apennines, the Apuan
Alps, the Maremma and the whole uncontaminated area of Migliarino-San
Rossore-Massacciuccoli.
Art and culture
Tuscany
is universally known for her richness of monuments and works of art.
Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Siena are famous throughout the world. Less
well-known, but also rich in art are Arezzo, Carrara, Pistoia and
Prato. There are also many minor centres, some of which are true,
perfectly preserved, historical villages that hold invaluable works of
art: Cortona, Fiesole, San Gimignano, Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano
and Volterra.
Gastronomy
From
fish, through soups, to meat. The tasty Tuscan cuisine ranges from the
Finocchiona (aromatised pork) to Livorno’s caciucco (fish soup), right
up to the Pisan cèe (new-born eel). A menu full of treats such as
soppressata, prosciutto ham, ribollita soup, bean and lard soup or
spelt soup. Among the pasta dishes: pappardelle pasta with hare ragù,
tomato pappa, black rice. The Florentine steak is sumptuous, the mixed
roast excellent, while, among the desserts, cenci, panforte and
cantucci must be tried.
